The National Candidacy Commission proposed Wednesday Esteban Lazo as Speaker of the 9th Legislature of the newly-inaugurated Cuban Parliament, nomination that will have to be ratified by direct and secret vote by the 605 lawmakers.
The IX Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) was constituted today in solemn session in this capital, with the oath of the deputies who will represent the people during the next five years.
The 9th legislature of the Cuban National Parliament will be sworn this Wednesday. The 605 newly elected deputies to the National Assembly of People´s Power will assemble as of 9 am local time.
The Cuban Parliament is electing Wednesday following the inauguration of the 9th Legislature the nation”s President and the other members of the Council of State.

The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, in use of the faculties conferred to it, agreed to begin the constitutive sitting of the ninth legislature of the National Assembly of People´s Power on Wednesday April 18, 2018, at 9 a.m. at the Convention Palace.
